Appointments & Fees
Beginning counselling is a significant step. I aim to make the process straightforward, clear and respectful from the outset.
Initial Appointment
Our first meeting is an opportunity for us to talk about what has brought you to counselling and what you hope for from the work.
It is also a chance for you to see how it feels to sit with me. The relationship between counsellor and client is important, and you are under no obligation to continue if you feel it is not the right fit.
The initial session lasts 50 minutes and is charged at the standard rate.
Ongoing Sessions
If we decide to work together, sessions are usually held weekly at the same time each week, providing consistency and continuity. Some flexibility may be possible where needed.
We may agree to work for a set number of sessions, or on an open-ended basis. This will depend on your preferences and the nature of what you would like to explore.
Some clients come for focused, short-term work around a specific issue. Others choose longer-term counselling to allow for deeper reflection. We will discuss your expectations and review the work as we go.
Sessions last 50 minutes.
Endings are approached thoughtfully and collaboratively, allowing space to reflect on the work we have done.
“Life MOT”
I offer a two- or three-session package designed to review key areas of your life or to focus on a specific issue.
This can be a stand-alone piece of work or, if appropriate, a starting point for longer-term counselling.
Sessions are charged at the standard rate.
Fees
Individuals: £75 per session
Couples: £95 per session
EAP clients: £120 per session
If your household income is below £35k, a reduced rate of £65 is sometimes available. Please mention this at the time of enquiry.
Fees are reviewed periodically.
Payment
Payment is usually made by bank transfer in advance of the session.
For face-to-face appointments, cash payment at the beginning of the session is also possible.
Appointments are reserved exclusively for you. Missed or cancelled sessions are charged in full unless at least 48 hours’ notice is given.
Confidentiality
All sessions are confidential and conducted in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework.
If working online, sessions are held using secure platforms, and care is taken to ensure privacy and professional standards are maintained.
How to Book
To arrange an initial appointment, please use the contact form or email link on the website.
It is helpful if you include a brief outline of what brings you to counselling, whether you are seeking short- or longer-term work, and whether you would prefer online or in-person sessions.
I aim to respond personally within 48 hours.
